At IUB, what is the Student Technology Fee used for?

At Indiana University Bloomington, money from the Student Technology Fee is used solely for services that UITS provides for students, including student computing and technology equipment, software, networks, site assistance and troubleshooting, and the support staff necessary for these functions to operate effectively. Student Technology Fee monies do not go toward any UITS general funding.

For the most recent fiscal year (2007-2008), monies were allocated as follows:

20% = Operating, maintaining, and upgrading the UITS Student Technology Centers (STCs)

19% = Consulting in the STCs

19% = Software in the STCs

12% = Consulting and services from the UITS Support Center, available online and via chat, email, phone, and in person

10% = Printing in the STCs

 7% = STEPS workshops offered through UITS IT Training & Education

 6% = Accounts on the central systems and for dial-up modem access

 3% = Research computing

 2% = Instructional publications, available on paper and on the web

 2% = Maintenance
