Using Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger), how do I connect to the IU Secure wireless network?

Note: Use these instructions to configure Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger) to connect to the IU Secure SSID with AirPort Extreme. For Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), see Using Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), how do I connect to the IU Secure wireless network?

  1. From the AirPort menu, select Open Internet Connect... .

  2. With the Internet Connect window open, from the File menu, choose New 802.1X Connection.

  3. In the resulting window, click the 802.1X button (the orange padlock).

  4. From the menu next to "Configuration:", select Edit Configurations... .

  5. In the Configuration window, in the "Description:" field, enter WPA: IU Secure .

  6. In the "User Name:" field, enter your IU Network ID username. Leave the "Password:" field blank.

  7. In the "Wireless Network:" field, enter IU Secure .

  8. In the list to the right of "Authentication:", uncheck the boxes next to TTLS and EAP-FAST, leaving only PEAP checked.

Note: Do not configure PEAP with an outer identity.

  9. Click OK twice to exit the Configuration and Internet Connect windows.

  10. From the AirPort menu, select IU Secure.

    • The certificate is signed by Thawte Premium Server CA.
    • The certificate name is is net-auth-1.noc.iu.edu.

  12. Check the box next to Always trust these certificates, and click Continue.

  13. You should now be connected to the IU Secure SSID; if you are prompted for your credentials again, enter your IU Network ID.
