Using Exchange mail at IU, how does the spam quarantine service integrate with Outlook's Junk E-mail settings?

Note: The spam quarantine service analyzes all mail delivered to Indiana University Cyrus/Webmail and Exchange accounts. Any spam messages you receive are quarantined for five days in a Spam (Cyrus/Webmail) or Junk E-mail (IU Exchange) folder in your account. After five days, the spam service deletes these messages automatically. For more, see At IU, what is the spam quarantine service?

Note: The following instructions apply to Outlook 2003 and later.

When using Outlook or Outlook Web App (OWA), your Safe Senders, Safe Recipients, and Blocked Senders lists are stored on the Exchange server. When Exchange's Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) evaluates a message, it looks at your personal lists before determining a delivery location.

Outlook and OWA (using Internet Explorer) provide a Junk E-mail (in Outlook 2010, Junk) menu when you right-click a message. This menu allows you to control what senders and domains are either blocked or marked as safe.

In Cached Exchange Mode, Outlook can also perform client-side evaluations of messages that are delivered to your inbox. If you set Outlook's level of filtering to High, the client will be more strict than the Exchange server, and may generate false positives.

Note: Both Outlook and OWA provide a Recover Deleted Items interface, so you can retrieve messages purged from the Junk E-mail folder for up to 15 days after they're deleted. For more, see In Outlook for Windows, how can I recover deleted items if I am an IU Exchange user?

This is document auft in domain all.
