At IU, can I use UMS if I don't have an Exchange account?
You can use Unified Messaging Service (UMS) and most of its features without an Exchange account, with certain exceptions:
- You cannot listen to your email messages by phone.
- You can listen to voice messages through either your
email client or the phone. However, if you listen to a new
message through your email client and delete it or mark it as read,
it will still come up as new when you check your messages by
phone. Likewise, if you first listen to a voice message by phone and
then delete it, your email client will still show it as unread.
- If your email system or client has a calendar function, you cannot listen to your appointments by phone as you can with an Exchange account.
All other features of UMS are available to non-Exchange users. For more, UMS users can access UMS Personal Settings.
