Why am I having trouble logging into Oncourse CL?
For basic login instructions, see Logging in. If you have trouble logging into Oncourse CL, check the following:
- Make sure you are typing your username and passphrase
correctly on the Central Authentication Service (CAS)
login page. Both are case sensitive; verify that your
Caps Lockkey is not on.
- Your CAS login may be stale. This can happen if you click your
browser's
Backbutton while in Oncourse CL. To resolve this issue, close and reopen your browser. (Instead ofBack, useCancelor the up arrow icon, as appropriate.)
- Check that your browser is set up to use Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) connections. Most browsers are set up by default to use
SSL.
- Use your ADS domain account username and passphrase for
authentication. If you do not have an ADS domain account,
visit the Account Management
Service page to request one. (If you don't know if you have one or
not, see How can I find out
which UITS computing accounts I have?)
- If you have an ADS domain account, and are still having trouble
connecting, try synchronizing your passphrases using the
Passphrase Maintenance utility at:
https://passphrase.iu.edu/
Once you synchronize your passphrases, there will be a delay of about 20 minutes before you can log in.
- If you are using a Guest account, check to see if you can
log into CAS by trying to log into OneStart with your Guest
account.
- If you cannot log into CAS with your Guest account, you may not
have activated your Guest account after creating it. In the email
account you used to create your Guest account, look for a message with a
subject such as "Activate your IU Guest account now". Click the link
within the message to activate your account.
- If you can log into CAS but cannot connect to Oncourse CL, you may not have been added to a course roster. In this case, you may receive the error, "Account not found." Ask your course instructor or the site owner to verify that you have been correctly added to the roster.
- If you cannot log into CAS with your Guest account, you may not
have activated your Guest account after creating it. In the email
account you used to create your Guest account, look for a message with a
subject such as "Activate your IU Guest account now". Click the link
within the message to activate your account.
If you are still unable to access Oncourse CL, contact your campus Support Center for assistance.
