If my network access has been disabled by UIPO or UISO, how can I get it re-enabled?

The University Information Policy Office (UIPO) and the University Information Security Office (UISO) at Indiana University can disable any IU user's access to the IU network for security reasons or policy violations, such as failure to prevent or clean up after a virus infection or a network compromise, or failure to remove copyrighted materials after a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) violation. If you are in one of these situations, the UIPO will contact you via email with information about necessary action.

To re-enable your network access, you must take the action outlined in the email message from the UIPO. Once you have completed all the necessary steps, visit https://unblock.iu.edu to unblock your network access.

If you, instead, wish to reply to the message from the UIPO, be aware that UIPO staff monitor email during business hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm). In your email reply, be sure to retain the body of the original message so staff have all necessary information to re-enable your access.

Note: If you're not using your IU account to reply to the message (e.g., if your mail is forwarded to another account), you must include your IU Network ID username.

If you cannot find the email communication sent to you from the UIPO or if you need assistance following the action outlined in the email message, contact your campus Support Center.
