In Windows XP or Vista, how can I save my computer's configuration for use in a System Restore?
In Windows XP and Vista, the System Restore feature automatically creates restore points at certain intervals. These points can be used to restore your system to a previously working state. You may want to manually create a restore point if, for example, you are about to install new software or hardware.
To manually create a restore point:
- From the
Startmenu, selectAll ProgramsorPrograms, and then selectAccessories, thenSystem Tools, and thenSystem Restore.
- Select
Create a restore pointand clickNext.
- Type a name for the restore point, and then click
Create.
- When the point has been created, click
Close.
