At IU, can I request a quota increase for my Outlook or Exchange email account?
Note: Exchange accounts at Indiana University have a default quota of 500MB. For information on managing your usage of Exchange server resources, see In Microsoft Outlook 2002, 2003, and 2007 for Windows, what can I do about an "exceeding" or "over size limit" message?
At Indiana University, UITS strongly recommends that you
delete messages from your mailbox, particularly from your Sent
Items and Deleted Items folders. Purging unwanted
or non-essential messages from your mailbox will often free up a
significant amount of space and make a quota increase unnecessary.
For more information on deleting messages from your mailbox, see the
document referenced above.
You may also store messages, forms, and files in personal folders on your computer's hard disk. For more, see In Microsoft Outlook 2002, 2003, and 2007, what are personal folder files, and how do I create them?
In some cases, if your needs are unusual, it may be possible to make special arrangements for additional space. For more, see What are the default disk quotas for UITS accounts, and how do I request an increase?
