In Windows 2000 or XP, how do I enforce disk quotas?

For every drive on your Windows 2000 or XP system, you can establish a quota, or maximum amount of disk space available to people using your system. To set up a quota on one of your drives, follow these steps:

  1. From the desktop or Start menu, double-click the My Computer icon.

  2. In Windows XP, right-click the drive icon. From the menu that appears, choose Sharing and Security... .

In Windows 2000, right-click the drive icon. From the menu that appears, choose Sharing... .

  3. Click the Quota tab and check the box marked Enable quota management. You'll then be able to access the other settings on this tab and set specific quotas for users.
