In LISTSERV, what is the OK mechanism?
Note: IU will be retiring its LISTSERV system beginning in spring 2012, and replacing it with IU List, a new mailing list service. See About the migration to IU List and What is IU List, and how do I use it?
Many operations on LISTSERV mailing lists require the use of the OK mechanism, also known as the two-way OK confirmation. It works as follows:
- When you perform an action on a LISTSERV list that requires
confirmation, LISTSERV will send you a message asking for
confirmation.
- To make the request take effect, use the link provided in the message, or reply to the confirmation message. The body (not the subject) of your reply should be the following: ok
