What does GMT mean in regard to email delivery and login times?

GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time. When DST is not in effect, subtract five hours from GMT to get the local time in Bloomington, Indiana; during DST, subtract four hours. In other words, times listed in GMT will appear to be either four or five hours later than local time, depending on the time of year. For example, 18:00 GMT (6pm) is 13:00 EST (1pm) in Bloomington when DST is not in effect, and 14:00 EDT (2pm) when DST is in effect. Some mailers translate GMT to local time.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday in November in the US. For exact dates, see What are the start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time in the US?

The GMT Conversion web site has useful tables to help you make the correct conversion for your time zone.
